The flagship branch of the Pets In The City group, the Mt Wellington centre pairs large indoor and outdoor play areas with private boarding suites a short hop from the city. Dogs spend the day in structured, size-matched play groups with rest breaks, and overnight guests choose from Toy Town rooms for small dogs up to roomier Executive apartments. Grooming, force-free training and a pet taxi round out the on-site services.

Our frenchie Loki loves this place! My partner and I are based in Wellington but travel to Auckland every few months and we leave Loki here for a couple nights each time. Each time we’ve picked up Loki we can see that he’s truly had so much fun and was really looked after. The facility is also so clean! I really love that they update their socials with lots of photos so you can see what they got up to. I also love that when I pick up Loki, I never have to ask how he was because the staff always updated me straight away. Such amazing and caring staff. Thanks again so so much for looking after Loki. We recently moved and, having loved Pets in the City Silverdale, we thought we’d give Mt Wellington a go — and Polar Bear absolutely loved it! 🐾 We adored getting the regular photo updates (one of the things that really sets Pets in the City apart). It was so nice seeing him happy, playful, and clearly having the best time. The staff were amazing — so friendly and caring — and to top it off, Polar Bear even won Player of the Day! 🏆 Thanks so much to the whole team for making him feel right at home. We’ll definitely be back!

Been taking our Golden Retriever here since they were a puppy. Every time we drop him off we are greeted to smiling faces and our dog is always excited to greet everyone. All of the staff we have interacted with are so polite and friendly, you can see they are big dog lovers. Every day they have planned activities with the dogs, from bubble catching to tug of war, story time, and so many more. They keep the facility as clean as possible and split the dogs into categories of larger breeds and smaller. They also manage any aggressive behaviors well too, by posing time outs. I have used their grooming services twice and our dog comes back smelling and feeling clean. The staff are really just proper dog people, and you get that sense when talking to them. Could swear our dog has a few favorites too! Really happy with how Pets in The City operate and will love to be able to continue sending our dog there as he is always completely exhausted when we take him back home after work. There are also plenty of membership payment options that suit a working family or even for the 1 day or half day visits be sure to read their pamphlets on pricing. Thank you team, I won't mention names because this is already a long review; but thank you for everything!

100% my luckiest find. I simply will not use another care-giver for my dog. Professional, friendly, genuine, dog-loving staff. Nothing is too much trouble.
